Community Water System is proud to serve the water needs of north central Arkansas. Utilizing Greers Ferry Lake as its source water, the system began supplying water to approximately 1500 customers in Greers Ferry, Higden, Edgemont and Fairfield Bay in 1970. From those humble beginnings, Community Water System continued to grow and currently supplies water to approximately 6470 retail water users and 10 wholesale users located in portions of Van Buren, Cleburne, Faulkner and Stone Counties Arkansas. This represents a service area of greater than 200 square miles with a population served of approximately 70,000.

CWS to begin Fluoridation

Community Water System (CWS) is hereby giving notice that it will begin adding fluoride to its drinking water very soon.  Act 197 of 2011 was passed by the Arkansas 87th General Assembly and requires water systems that treat and provide water to more than 5,000 people to initiate a fluoridation program.  In order to comply with this mandate, CWS will fluoridate all treated water for its entire distribution area beginning April 1, 2015.  That will include all CWS retail water users in Cleburne, Faulkner, Stone and Van Buren Counties as well as all wholesale customers to include the City of Quitman, City of Guy, City of Damascus, City of Greenbrier, City of Wooster, Beaverfork VFD, Inc., Vilonia Water Works, City of Mayflower, City of Shirley and a portion of West Stone County PWA.
