NEW OPERATIONS CENTER FOR CWS...

If you've been in the neighborhood of the Community Water System operations in the last few days, you've probably noticed the ground work taking place and wondered what's going on. The asnwer...we are in the very early stages of construction on a new CWS headquarters building. The unattractive, undersized office building which has housed our operations since 1975 is about to be replaced with a modern, up-to-date Operations Center. Our current facility , rebuilt with limited expansion after the tornado damage of 1984, no longer has enough working space to meet our expanding service requirements. And, it was felt the CWS Operations Center should be as advanced as our Water Treatment Facility.

The new CWS Operations Center will contain approximately 13,000 square feet of space on three levels. The ground level will house all operations offices, a customers drive-through and a Community Room complete with kitchen, restrooms...and it's own outside entrance. The top floor will be unused at present but will contain an oversized, re-inforced vault for record-keeping. The vault will provide the space necessesary to meet the Safe Drinking Water Compliance Act recommendation that all records kept for a period of 10 years. In addition, the lower level will also contain a well equipped area specifically planned for storing and viewing area distribution maps.

As mentioned earlier, the new CWS Operations Center will also include a COMMUNITY ROOM. The room, specifically designed and furnished for public use, will be kept available for all types of area meetings, club functions, civic groups, etc. It will be handicapped accessible. it will have it's own kitchen and restrooms. And, with it's own private entrance, COMMUNITY ROOM activities will not interfere with normal CWS operations. The addition of this room in the new operations Center will hopefully help satisfy the constant need for suitable public meeting places in our area.

Though preliminary groundwork is underway, actual building construction is scheduled to begin in January 2002 with a projected completion date of January, 2003. While the new CWS Operations Center is being constructed, every effort will be made to keep all systems and serves functioning normally. but, please be patient. We are growing to serve our customers and our community in the best possible way.

UP & RUNNING! With the exception of a few interior and exterior details, Community water System's new OPERATIONS CENTER is now fully operational.

This new OPERATIONS CENTER contains approximately 13,000 square feet of space on three levels. It will house all CWS offices including a customer drive-through and a 'Community Room' for public meetings or gatherings. The 'Community Room', which is handicapped accessible, will have its own restrooms, kitchen and outside entrance.

The OPERATIONS CENTER also features an oversized, reinforced vault recommended by the Safe Drinking Water Compliance Act to keep all records for a period of a least 10 years, and an area specifically designed for the viewing and storage of area distribution maps.

Overlooking beautiful Greers Ferry Lake, the CWS OPERATIONS CENTER will certainly meet today's needs, as well as the needs for many years to come. The new facility provides an inviting, professional atmosphere for our day to day activities, a large, well-equipped room for public use and an upper unfinished floor for future expansion.

If you're in the area, pay us a visit. We'd love to show you around.
